Exploring Adom Waterfalls: A Refreshing Journey with a Quick Stop at Aburi Gardens.

Embarking on a quest to uncover hidden treasures in Ghana's Eastern Region is slowly becoming the theme of my year. Surprisingly, these gems are just an hour's drive from the capital, yet remain undiscovered by many. Our original plan was to visit Adom Waterfall, but we couldn't resist a spontaneous stop at Aburi Gardens – a decision that proved to be rewarding.

Boarding an Akropong-bound bus from Madina at a cost of 15 cedis per person, our journey led us to the doorstep of Aburi Gardens, offering stunning vistas along the way. Though the winding roads added a dash of excitement, the lush vegetation and picturesque homes dotted across the hillsides made for a memorable ride. A brief detour to Peduase allowed us to savor locally brewed palm wine priced at 45 cedis per liter and purchase beautifully crafted calabashes at 10 cedis for small and 15 cedis for larger sizes.

Upon sighting the iconic Aburi Girls Senior High School, we knew we had arrived in Aburi, our first destination. The towering trees lining the road welcomed us to the gardens, where a small entrance fee of 20 cedis per person with an additional 50 cedis per head for a guided tour. Alternatively, if you simply want to relax under the shade, the group rate is 80 cedis for more than 3 people, and it's free for groups of 3 or fewer. Enjoy a leisurely stroll and capture beautiful moments through photographs, perhaps even partaking in games like archery (5 cedis for 5 shots) or paintball (20 cedis for 10 bullets and shots). grants access to a world of natural beauty. Whether you're interested in guided tours or simply seeking a tranquil spot to relax, Aburi Gardens offers something for everyone.

With opportunities for leisurely strolls and captivating photo ops, our visit was enhanced by games like archery and paintball, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience. As the day drew to a close, we reluctantly bid farewell to Aburi Gardens and turned our sights toward Adom Waterfall, eager for our next adventure.

Taking a taxi to Obomase at 10 cedis per person and alighting at Kisi Junction, we followed signs directing us to Adom Waterfalls. Little did we anticipate the challenging hike that awaited us. After about 30 minutes of trekking, we reached the entrance, where a modest fee of 20 cedis per person grants access to the falls.

Descending further, we were greeted by the sight and sound of cascading water, a welcome reward for our efforts. Although the falls weren't at their peak due to the dry season, the hidden mini pool nestled among the rocks provided a refreshing oasis.

While food is not available for purchase, I recommend bringing your own refreshments to fully enjoy the serene surroundings. In summary, our journey was filled with excitement and discovery, offering an unforgettable glimpse into Ghana's natural wonders.

Would I recommend Adom Waterfall? Absolutely. But heed the precautions, visit during the rainy season for optimal beauty, and don't miss the chance to explore Aburi Gardens beforehand. It's a rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital, offering a chance to reconnect with nature and indulge in some well-deserved relaxation.
